Azuka Obiejogo HND graduate forges Okonjo-Iweala’s recommendation letter for EFCC job

A job seeker,Azuka Obiejogo, has been arrested by theEconomic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) for forging a recommendation letter in the name of the Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr.Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
EFCC spokesman,Wilson Uwujaren, said Obiejogo, who holds a Higher National Diploma from a polytechnic in Anambra State, allegedly applied for jobs at the EFCC and other government agencies using the forged recommendation letter.
“Obiejogo is a Higher National Diploma holder. He forged a reference letter from the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and along with his curriculum vitae, requested employment in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Tertiary Education Trust Fund and the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company," Uwajaren said.
Obiejogo was arraigned before Justice Muawiyah Idris of an Abuja High Court on six counts bordering on forgery.
His charge read:
“That you, Azuka Obiejogo, on or about August 11, 2014, in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, intentionally induced the Tertiary Education Trust Fund to employ you as Account Officer II by presenting a forged reference letter titled, ‘Reference on Obiejogo Raymond Azuka’, purportedly made by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, recommending you as a worthy officer fit for employment and which act caused harm to the reputation of TETFUND.”
According to the EFCC, the offence was contrary to Section 320(b) and punishable under Section 322 of the Penal Code, CAP 532, Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1990.
The accused pled not guilty and Justice Idris adjourned the case till June 2, 2015 for hearing of the bail application and commencement of trial.
Justice Idris ordered that Obiejogo be remanded in Kuje Prisons.

Educated Criminal Police nab 27-yr-old graduate for car snatching after gun battle

Enugu Police have arrested a 27-year-old computer science and information technology graduate,Anidi Reginald, for belonging to a car snatching gang.
Anidi, who allegedly graduated from a university in Cotonou in 2013, was arrested around 11am on Saturday after a gun battle between his gang and police officers from the Ogui Division at Ozalla, in Nkanu West LGA of the state.
The gang members were fleeing after they snatched a Honda Pilot car, with registration numberAAA 598 CH, from the owner at gunpoint,Punchreports.
They headed towards Enugu metropolis but were chased down by policemen who had been alerted by the victim.
A gun battle ensued at Presidential Road area after which Anidi was arrested while other gang members escaped.
The Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command,Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident.
He said an automatic pump action gun, one cut-to-size English-made single barrel gun, and live cartridges were recovered from the suspect.
The police spokesman said Anidi, who blamed his involvement in crime on employment and peer influence, is aiding investigations into the activities of the gang.
Police say the car has been returned to the owner.

OAU Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) has awarded N3.5m worth scholarships to fifty-nine students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) after its annual reunion convention.

 
Fifty-nine students of theObafemi Awolowo University(OAU), Ile-Ife, have received N3.5m worth scholarships from theOAU Muslim Graduates’ Association(UNIFEMGA)
The scholarships were awarded at the association's three-day annual reunion convention which commenced on the 8th of May.
UNIFEMGA National President, Prof.Abdul Egbewole, noted that association has so far awarded scholarships worth N17.56m to students of the institution.
Business mogul and Chairman of Bi-Courtney Construction Company,Wale Babalakin(SAN), delivered a lecture titled: “Doing Business in Nigeria: Challenges of a Muslim Practitioner” at the conference.
Babalakin lamented the falling standards of education in the country, urging government to focus on knowledge development and application in order to boost economic growth.

Edo Cult Wars 14 junior secondary school pupils arrested for cultism

Fourteen pupils, aged between 12 and 15, were arrested last Thursday at Oguola Secondary School at Saint Saviour, Ikpoba Okha LGA of Edo state, for their alleged involvement in cultism related activities.

Police in Edo state have arrested 14 teenage Junior Secondary School pupils for their alleged involvement in cultism related activities.
9ja school gist gathered that the pupils, aged between 12 and 15, were arrested last Thursday atOguola Secondary Schoolat Saint Saviour, Ikpoba Okha LGA of the state.
A team of police had stormed the school and effected the arrest, following complaints by some parents.
It was also reported that emblems of cult groups were recovered from the suspects who are now being held at the Department of Criminal Investigation, Benin.
According toPunch, the Principal of school, identified as Ehanire, has appealed for the release of those found to be innocent.
Only last week, the police announced that “a total of 56 suspected vicious cultists linked to the recent violencein the state [Edo] have been rounded up by the Squad and are undergoing interrogation” by a “ Special Crack Squad designated for the assignment

The Kwara State University (KWASU) has commenced Undergraduate admissions processing for 2015/2016 academic session.
From the information reaching us, we are glad to inform all the candidates whose choice of institution in the 2015 UTME/DE was Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete; and all those interested in admission intoKWASUbut have not made it their choice to the Post-UTME Screening/Test for 2015/2016 admission exercise.
All candidates must have five (5) O’ Level credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings. The screening/test is scheduled to hold as follows:
Date: Monday 15th June – Thursday 18th June, 2015.
Venue: University Auditorium, Malete
Time: Examination time will be scheduled on candidates’ registration print-outs.
