UNIABUJA Cancel 2015/2016 Post-UTME Screening Exam

Latest report reaching us has it that the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has officially cancel its 2015/2016 post Unified Matriculations Tertiary Examination (UMTE) screening for students seeking admission into the institution for the 2015/ 2016 academic year.
This was promulgated to liveschoolnews.com.ng grapevine by the spokesperson of the varsity, Waziri Garba
Garba said, ‘We didn’t have any other option than to cancelled the 2015 Post-UTME screening test because after Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) redistribution exercise, the institution was left with a small figure’.
Garba explained that “initially we had about 16,000 candidates applying then after JAMB did their redistribution exercise we came down to about 6,000 and we need about 4,000 students only. So why do we conduct post UMTE, it will cost us more to conduct it for 6,000 people than 16,000 people.”
He said the varsity decided to do the admission on merit basis at the departmental level to admit their students.
According to him, the exercise is currently ongoing at the departmental level and will later go to central admission unit of the varsity who will compile everything before it is finally sent to JAMB.‎

JAMB Begins Inspection And Accreditation Of Centres For The Conduct Of 2016 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB-) has commence the inspection of over 600 facilities nationwide for accreditation as centres for the conduct of the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Public Relations Officer of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made the fact known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday.

He said the board would inspect over 1, 000 facilities for accreditation and that only those that met the requirements would be accredited as centres for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
“Some of the things we are looking out for have a lot to do with the technical aspect.
“For these centres to meet our requirements, they must have not less than 250 computers with reliable power source.

“The computer centres must be integrated with the local area network and there must equally be a high and accessible security in and around such centres,” Benjamin said.
He said that the centres were expected to have reliable servers to enable JAMB to send its questions from the headquarters to various centres since it was not using the public servers.
He called for more public and private partnership in the area of establishing well-equipped centres in schools or elsewhere for the purpose of the examination.
NAN recalls that the board used 400 centres in conducting UTME for over four million candidates earlier in the year. (NAN)
