Bayero University Varsity establishes Centre For Renewable Energy

Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has established a Centre for Renewable Energy, as part of a strategic innovation to explore independent alternative energy to power the university.
The university has also established a Centre for Infectious Disease, to facilitate research, and management of epidemics in Kano, Guardian reports.
The centre, when fully operational, will complement the state-owned Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH).
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, said to journalists that the school has broken new grounds in the areas of research development, innovation and academic programmes.
He also expressed satisfaction that the centres were already making tremendous impact in their areas of expertise, adding that some have already attracted international recognition and funds to yield expected results.
The other centres are Centre for Dry Land Agriculture, Centre for Biotechnology Research, Centre for Advanced Medical Research and Centre for African Entrepreneurship Research and Training, Centre for Quranic Studies, Centre for Islamic Civilization and Inter-faith Dialogue, International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance and Centre for Gender Studies. Citing the need for manpower capacity building, the Vice Chancellor revealed that more than 500 academic and non-academic staff have been sponsored for postgraduate training abroad.
He added that 28 new programmes in eight faculties have been approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC), while 4 new faculties were awaiting the commission approval.

UNILAG Signs Research Agreement Dutch University

UNILAG is ranked among the best in the world especially in research projects.
The University of Lagos has signed a research/service provision agreement with Wageningen University, Netherlands.
The agreement was signed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahamon A. Bello,FAEngon Thursday, May 20, 2015 during a visit by a team of researchers from Wageningen University.
The team was received by the Vice Chancellor along with the Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Academic & Research) Professor Babajide Alo, FAS; Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) T.F. Ipaye; and Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Professor R.K. Ojikutu.
While welcoming the research team, Professor Bello identified areas of possible collaboration between UNILAG and the researchers. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that UNILAG is ranked among the best in the world especially in research projects.

OSCOHTECH General Admission Requirements.
1.The admission requirements for National Diploma (ND) Programmes are a minimum of five (5) O’ Level credits passes, in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology from WAEC or NECO, in not more than two (2) sittings.
2.The admission requirement for Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes is National Diploma (ND) not lower than Lower Credit in relevant programme in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credits passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physic and Biology from WAEC/NECO in not more than two (2) sittings.

2. HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) in Environmental Health Technology
Duration: 2 Years
Admission Requirement: Holders of National Diploma (ND) in Environmental Health Technology with at least lower credit. In addition to five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes as in 1 above.
3. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN
Duration: 3 years
Admission Requirement: Three (3) ‘O’ Level Credit passes including English Language, Biology, Health Science, Geography, Chemistry from WAEC or NECO in not more than two (2) sittings.
4. WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT AND SANITATION
National Diploma (ND) in Water Resources Management and Sanitation
Duration: 2 years
Admission Requirement: FIVE(5) ‘O’ Level Credit Passes including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any of Physics or Geography from WAEC or NECO in not more than two (2) sittings.
