Corps member raped, murdered in Ibadan two weeks to wedding

According to a report by The Nation, Omolola Abogunrin, was allegedly raped and murdered by unknown men 13 days to her wedding (October 17th) and on her 29th birthday. The Corps member was reportedly murdered in the premises of an agriculture research institute located at Apata area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital last Sunday.

The deceased was said to have been raped and strangled beside a stream within the premises of the institute. Residents said the deceased appeared to be returning from church when she was waylaid by the hoodlums.

“We saw semen in her private part and nail wounds around her neck when we found her corpse. That was an evidence that she was raped and strangulated,” a resident told The Nation.A family source said:

“Omolola was looking forward to her wedding which was scheduled for October 17, the day she would have been 29 years old. She and her fiancĂ©e to be held their family introduction four months ago to pave the way for proper marriage ceremony, scheduled to take place at a Christ Apostolic Church in Ibadan.

”The late Omolola graduated from The Polytechnic, Ibadan. She was on the verge of completing her one year National Youth Service Corpse in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, as at the time of her death.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Oyo State, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said Omolola’s corpse has since been deposited at the morgue of the Oyo State Hospital, Adeoyo. He explained that her lover, Mr Babalola, was arrested and detained as part of police investigation.

“The case has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the command. The Command would make sure the killers are brought to book.”Source: The Nation

UNIMAID Release 2015/2016 1st Batch Direct Entry Admission List


This is to inform all the candidates who applied for admission into the University Of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) through Direct Entry that the school admission board has just released the 2015/16 Admission list which contain names of candidates that have been offered provisional admission into the University for the 2015/2016 Academic Session.

The UNIMAID 2015/2016 1st batch admission list has been fully upload on the school portal. However, the list is in PDF format, Candidates are advise to use a computer/mobile devise that can read PDF file to view the admission list.

NSUK Admits 4078 Students Out Of 24,000 Candidates For 2015/2016

Authorities of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, on Friday asserted that the institution admitted only 4,078 out of 24,614 candidates that applied for admission in to the 2015/2016 academic session.

This assertion was promulgated by the Registrar of the university, Alhaji Dalhatu Mamman.
He said the 2015/2016 admission followed due process in line with academic standard.

“After thorough scrutiny of the candidates that applied for the 2015/2016 admission in to the university, over 4,000 candidates were given admission out of which 3,255 are indigenes of the state, while 823 that got the admission are non-indigenes,’’ said the registrar.

According to him, 24,614 candidates applied for the 2015/2016 admission in to the university, out of which 12,133 are citizens of the state while 12,401 are non-indigenes.

He added that the university admitted only 74 direct entry students out of 152 direct entry candidates that passed the school examination for the admission.

The registrar restated the commitment of the university to continue to collaborate with the Assembly in order to improve on the standard of education in the state for the overall development of the country.
