During the last post UTME conducted by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), about 88 candidates were arrested by the university and handed over to the police for alleged impersonation. The arrested 88 are being prosecuted in Anambra State.

To ensure early release of results to students, the vice chancellor said the authorities of the institution resolved that lecturers who failed to release their result to students after one month of the examination would forfeit their salaries.

A lecturer at theUniversity of Lagos(UNILAG), Dr. Tajudeen Yusuf, has urged theNigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(NSCIA) to always monitor the activities of radical Muslim clerics.

He said the NSCIA should encourage Muslim clerics to promote religious tolerance in the interest of unity and harmony, noting that it was the failure of Islamic leaders in to check such individuals who spread dangerous views that caused the emergence of the Boko Haram sect.
"What brought about the Boko Haram?" he asked.
"It is lack of leadership. Anybody can just say anything or teach anything,
"Everybody turned themselves into Muslim clerics, nobody cautioned them."

He noted that the effect of the activities of such dangerous clerics is suffered by everyone.
"But when the Boko Haram came, didn't they kill Muslims?

"People were praying inside mosques and they opened fire on them.
"Leadership failure brought about the emergence of Boko Haram."
The don also called on clerics to make comments statements on political, economic and religious issues at every time, not just during the Ramadan period.

FRAUD ALERT: Advice to Desperate Admission Seekers

Several “desperate” admission seekers have lost billions of naira to fraudsters who use the internet to dupe them. Studies have shown that the group of people that is most susceptible to internet fraud is the desperate or the greedy. While the desperate would go to any length to get what they want, including parting with the little resources at their disposal at any point in time, the greedy ones are forever obsessed with the acquisitive tendency until they are dispossessed, in the process, of huge financial and/or investment assets.

Cloned websites which scammers present as that of most sought-after Nigerian Universitiesare now live as Post-UTME of various public universities are about to start. An unfortunate scenario is currently playing out whereby some candidates have been made to part with as much as N25, 000 each ostensibly to be eligible to take part in the post-UTME screening test of some universities! On this phantom site, the applicants were told that their respective institutions of choice had released the cut-off mark for the 2015/2016 admission exercise and advised to start “processing” their applications.

Note of Warning to Admission Seekers.
No public varsities in Nigeria will ask you to pay “processing fee” for admission. The only pre-admission charge is very meager and it is for registration for the post-UTME test. It’s always between N1,500 – N5,000. And in any case, it will not be paid into an individual’s personal bank account.
It is obvious that it is this allure and desperation by admission seekers to enter the University that scammers have continually exploited. However, prospective candidates and their parents and guardians should not allow this allure to becloud their sense of reasoning to the extent of falling cheaply for fraudsters!
