Unemployed Graduate To Get N5000 Monthly-FG

Cheering news reaching 9ja School Gist has it that the federal government at the weekend declared that there are ongoing plans to implement one of its striking campaign promises that it will pay N5000 each to unemployed graduated and  poorest Nigerians across the country.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who gave the hint noted that government is “currently evaluating the best ways to collapse existing cash transfer and social welfare schemes to ensure consistency and alignment.

“Once this is completed, we will implement the first phase of this program, using recognized identification platforms and transparent payment solutions”, he added.

Osinbajo who disclosed this at the 10th Year Anniversary Lecture of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State titled, ‘The Nigerian Economy and the Future’, also said the federal government has identified the weak transmission grid, which prevents the wheeling of more than 5,000MW as a gridlock to be removed.

He assured that the Buhari administration would work with the distribution companies to ensure the necessary investment to get electricity to consumers is in place.

On the pervasive poverty ravaging the country, Osinbajo said the payment of N5000 each to poor Nigerians was necessary because “we cannot talk about the economy of the future without addressing how we move people out of poverty.

“One of the most striking promises we made during the campaign was the payment of Five Thousand Naira to the poorest Nigerians across the country”, he noted, even as he regretted that today, “about 112 million (66% of Nigerians) are deemed extremely poor, measured by World Bank parameter of those living on less than US$1.25 per day.”

Vincent Uzomah 14-yr-old pupil stabs Nigerian teacher in UK, boasts about it on Facebook

"The motherfucker getting funny so I stick the blade straight in his tummy," 14 year old student, Yusaf Khanny, wrote in a Facebook update that strangely got 38 likes at the time of the screen grab.

A 14 year old student, Yusaf Khanny, who stabbed his 50-year-old Nigerian teacher, in the classroom also boasted about the crime on Facebook.

Vincent Uzomah, from Nkwerre, Imo state, was stabbed in the stomach at Dixons Kings Academy around 08:55 BST on Thursday, police said.

Uzomah, who had only taught at the school for about a month had attempted to confiscate a mobile phone Khanyy who was reportedly using it during class before the incident.

Following a shouting match, the student allegedly stuck a knife into the teacher's stomach and fled the school premises.

Instead of feeling remorseful, Khanyy went on his Facebook page to boast about the crime.

"The motherfucker getting funny so I stick the blade straight in his tummy," he wrote in the update that strangely got 38 likes at the time of the screen grab.

A student who told BBC he witnessed the incident said Uzomah was polite and "never shouted" when he demanded the phone from the student.

"He just got something out of his pocket and stabbed him and ran off," the student said.

Police conducted a manhunt for the student before he was later arrested, but not before he made his boast post on the popular social media network.

During the manhunt, the school's Executive Principal, Nick Weller, told BBC said the "shocking" events were witnessed by a number of students.

Uzomah is being treated in hospital.

A National Diploma student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro has been arrested for allegedly involvement in armed robbery, barely a month after a 19-year-old student of the polytechnic was arrested for defrauding people with a fake Facebook profile of APC National Leader, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A National Diploma student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro has been arrested for allegedly involvement in armed robbery.
