OAU New Administrative Charges for Educational Documents

The General Public is hereby informed that the University Management has approved new Administrative Charges for services regarding the University’s educational documents. The Charges, which are effective fromNovember 18, 2015,are as follows:
(i)Verification of Degree Certificate/Academic Transcript: N2,500.00
(ii)Request for Proof of English Proficiency: N1,500.00
(iii)Academic Transcripts:
(a)First Request outside Nigeria N 4,000.00
(b)First Request within Nigeria N 3,000.00
(c)Subsequent Requests outside Nigeria N 2,000.00
(d)Subsequent Requests within Nigeria N 1,500.00

NUCBody accredits LASU’s 11 academic programmes

TheNational University CommissionNUChad accredited 11 out of 20 postgraduate and undergraduate academic programmes of theLagos State UniversityLASU
This is contained in the institution’s official bulletin released on Wednesday inLagos
According to the bulletinNUC carried out the exercise in October 2014 and June 2015 respectivelyIt said that the result of the accreditation was conveyed to the university by the NUC
The bulletin said that the Commission had granted LawAccountingBanking and FinanceTheatre ArtMusicPhysiologyPhysical and Health Education full accreditation
It said that terminal and academic masters of Business AdministrationHuman Resources and Personnel Management and Public Administration were also accreditedwhile Masters of Public Administration was not accredited
It added that at the undergraduate levelBusiness AdministrationEnglishFrenchPhilosophy and Yoruba were denied accreditation
The bulletin also stated that InsuranceElectronicsComputer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering were placed at interim

The Emir of Kano,Emir Muhammadu SanusiII (born: Sanusi Lamido Sanusi), has reportedly taken a seat as the Chancellor of University of Benin.
According to reports, witnesses spotted the Emir's car at the University yesterday, 25th November.
The installation was held at theAkin Deko Auditoriumin the University. The Emir will now be the 9th Chancellor of the University of Benin, Edo State

JAMB to stop cyber cafés from registering candidates for its examinations

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has kicked against the recommendation by the Senate that all results for entry into tertiary institutions should last for three years.

The examination body said it will distort and delay the future of students across the country if enacted.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, said this in Abuja during the opening ceremony of JAMB-UNEB Benchmark on Item Banking.

According to him, such a policy would obstruct the education progress of students across board.

He said, “There are complexities in this thing, until we are able to clear it. When you say you will use JAMB results for three years, is it an achievement test or aptitude test? However, are we delaying his or her life? Are we postponing his or her life by telling them to stay at home? If by next year he doesn’t get the cut off points, what happens?

“I have nothing against the idea, because we will tell the children, ‘those bluffing Polytechnics and College of Education, go there and waste their time’, if it is a waste of time.”

She also told newsmen that the body had concluded plans to stop cyber cafés across the country from registering candidates for tertiary education examinations.

“In the final analysis, cyber cafes are not allowed to register candidates for a number of reasons. Cyber cafés may have their address here today, tomorrow they are somewhere else,” he emphasised.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, represented by the Director of Tertiary Education, Hajia Hindatu Abdullahi, stated that “the results of large scale examinations conducted by examination bodies, such as JAMB, NECO and NABTEB, are necessary for decision making and should therefore be credible.”

She said, “Consequently, the deployment of technology is very imperative if the results must be reliable. The role of technology in education cannot be over emphasised. Electronic item banking is consequent on the use of technology for item analysis and calibration.”

Youth Corper Collapses During Morning Drills At Orientation Camp In Oyo | Pictured

A female youth corper collapsed on Monday morning while taking part in morning drills at the NYSC orientation camp in Gbakuta Village in Oyo State.
Immediately the incident occurred, her fellow corpers rushed to carry her away from the camp grounds.

This raises major concerns. Are corpers typically screened by medical professionals on camp grounds before engaging in strenuous physical activities? Medical personnel should always be on stand by during such drills in case anyone needs emergency attention.
Nigeria, we need to take better care of our youth corpers.
