The Board wishes to reiterate that such qualifications (University Diplomas) are NOT ACCEPTABLE for admissions into Nigerian Universities through Direct Entry applications.

Please accept the assurances of the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Board that the above directive will continually be duly enforced.

MO POLY EXPELS 389 STUDENTS OVER EXAM MALPRACTICE

The authorities of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo in  Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, has  expelled 389 students over their involvement in examination malpractice and admission racketeering.

Rector of the institution, Rev. Fr. Wence Madu, told newsmen in Owerri yesterday that some of the affected students engaged in examination malpractice, some did not enter the school through the right way while some others failed to abide by the institution’s rules and regulations.

The Rector maintained that measures have been put in place to fish out all those who entered the institution through the backdoor, stressing that anyone caught will be shown the way out.

Fr. Madu, who reaffirmed the institution’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism and other vices, said the management is poised to repositioning the polytechnic so that its graduates can effectively compete favourably in the labour market.

He said the era of sorting/ bribery for admission is over and charged students and those seeking to enter the school to concentrate on their studies so that they can earn good scores by merit rather than by hook and crook.

Girl brings family to beat teacher up in school

event that happened in a school in Abia State. He narrated the events:

"On Monday at Ozar secondary school, Asa in Ukwa West LGA of Abia State when a student who was sent home by a teacher Mrs Njoku to barb her hair, regrouped with her mother and elder siblings to attack teachers and students.

The JSS two student, Precious Nwadike had earlier been warned by same teacher two weeks ago to barb her hair but she did not heed to the warning. On arrival to school on Monday, the student was asked to go home to get her haircut.

She left immediately only to return two hours later with the mother and four of her siblings who marched straight to the staff room and commanded the teachers to come out. Furthermore, the mother of the student, Mrs Nwadike held a teacher, pulled her cloth & ordered the sons to cut her hair. The intervention of another teacher, Mrs Osuagwu provoked the sons and one of them, Uche almost strangled her. But the quick intervention of students, led to a free for all fight in which Mrs Nwadike and children were fully prepared.' According to Izuchukwu Nwaokoma, it took the intervention of an annoymous youth corp member currently serving in the school who alerted military personnel to come to the rescue. 'Their quick arrival calmed the situation and doused the tension. Mrs Nwadike and children were arrested and taken to Obehie police station, Asa.

The Principal of the school, Mrs F.N Nwachukwu took both the wounded students and teachers to the nearest Health Center for treatment.

NYSC MEMBER MURDERED IN IMO

A member of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) simply identified as Akpan has been strangled to death by yet to be identified assailants in Ezuhu Umuhu Okwuato autonomous community in Aboh Mbaise Council of Imo state. The victim whose body was discovered in his apartment by neighbours was tied up and his face covered with his shirt before he was murdered.

According to an eye witness who does not want his name mentioned, “neighbours of the deceased became curious when they discovered that his door was opened and was not seen around the premises.” The source added that; “when the neighbours entered the apartment they found the lifeless body of Apkan in a pool of his own blood with his legs tied and they promptly raised an alarm which attracted the attention of the members of the community who reported the matter to the Police.

It was learnt that the late Apkan who was said to hail from Cross Rivers State, was last seen on that fateful day when he was fetching water from a nearby borehole.

However, further investigations at the Christ the Saviour Secondary School, a private School in the community where the late corps member was a teacher, revealed that his death may not be unconnected with an alleged amorous affair with a young lady in the school which apparently had not gone well with another rival who was said to have been dating the said young lady before late corps member was posted to the community.

It was gathered that the boy friend to the young lady had threatened to deal with the corps member if he fails to hands off his girl friend.

When contacted the spokesman of the Imo state Police Command , Mr. Andrew Enwerem (DSP), confirmed the incident stating that some arrests has been made while investigations into the dastardly act has commenced in earnest
