Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Olabisi Onabanjo University(OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, on Wednesday, began indefinite strike over unpaid salaries.
9jaschoolgist recalls that the university teachers, last Monday, protested against the alleged underfunding of the institution established some 33 years ago.
The decision to embark on strike was reached at the end of the union’s meeting, on Wednesday.
Speaking with newsmen, the ASUU chairman of the institution, Deji Agboola, alleged that the visitor to the school and the governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the Governing Council and the institution’s authorities refused to take action of their demands.
He noted that the demands of the lecturers were genuine considering the state of the school in maintaining enviable positions among other institutions in the country.
