A member of theNational Youth Service Corps(NYSC), has donated 50 simplified wheelchairs to physically challenged persons inKuchingorocommunity, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Omanudho Kennedy, a Batch ‘B’ serving corps member, made the donation as part of his personal project under the Community Development Service programmes of the NYSC scheme,Daily Trustreports.
Kennedy said the project was borne out of love and compassion he developed as a medical student during one of the outreaches he participated in a community in Bayelsa State.
NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen.Johnson Olawunmi, at the presentation ceremony described the gesture as another milestone in the scheme’s social empowerment strategy, aimed at enhancing the living standard of members of the host communities.
Represented by the Director, Community Development Service and Special Projects,Bose Okakwu, Olawunmi said the CDS project is highly commendable and should be emulated by other corps members.
