Primary school pupils in Osun state will continue
to get free food under the government’s ‘O-Meals' School Feeding and
Health Programme.
The Permanent Secretary in Osun
state Ministry of Education, Lawrence Oyeniran, said this while
answering questions on the OSBC Radio 104.5FM Yoruba weekly programme, 'Lagbo Eto Eko'.
Oyeniran said the Governor Rauf Aregbesola
government is committed to the program and asked the 3,000 food vendors
employed in the scheme to continue to feed the over 250,000 pupils
benefiting from the scheme.
There had been
speculations that the state government plans to scrap the program over
paucity of funds but the Permanent Secretary assured that this was not
the case.
He said the rumours were being peddled
by 'enemies of masses' and revealed that the government had reached an
agreement with the O-meals vendors to resume as usual.
