EBSU Notice on Fake JAMB Admission Letter

Management of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) hereby inform some of the candidates admitted in the 2015/2016 admissions that Management has noted with concern the difficulty that some of you are experiencing in printing your JAMB admission letters. This problem seems more pronounced for those that were offered admissions into courses/ programmes outside what they applied for initially.

Management has also noted with great dismay the action of some unscrupulous elements who now extort money from the candidates and fraudulently doctor/print and issue fake JAMB admission letters.

To that end, all those experiencing difficulty in printing their JAMB admission letters are by this memo advised to exercise little patience as Management understands their difficulty and is seriously liaising with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB-) to sort out the problem.

NB: Accordingly, candidates are advised to please stop patronising the fraudsters because any fake/doctored JAMB admission letter will definitely cause serious problems to such candidates during registration, graduation; with the attendant consequence of denied NYSC mobilization, as such fake admission letters cannot be domiciled in JAMB and NYSC electronic database.

DO NOT PATRONISE THOSE DOCTORING/PRINTING FAKE JAMB ADMISSION LETTERS BECAUSE IT WILL CREATE MORE PROBLEMS FOR YOU.

University EducationJonathan's TETFund saved Nigeria from'brain evacuation'— Bogoro

Nigerian would have lost all the best brains to foreign countries if theTertiary Education Trust Fund(TETFund) had not been formed as an intervention agency by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Executive Secretary of TETFund, ProfessorSuleiman Bogoro, said this during an interview withDaily Trustin Abuja.

According to him, strikes by theAcademic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) led to the Fund's establishment, and better fortunes for education at the tertiary level.

"If the early ASUU strikes had not led to the establishment of TETFund and improved salary structure for lecturers, like someone said, there would not be brain drain, but brain evacuation," Bogoro said. "Nobody that sees himself, as an intellectual would have wanted to teach in Nigerian universities.
Bogoro said the Fund made the Nigerian institutions attractive enough to keep the best brains interested. "As a result of the sustained intervention and improved funding in our tertiary institutions, today we can afford to keep first class graduates in the system.
"Ten to 15 years ago, our first class graduates in courses like mechanical engineering, medicine would prefer to go into banking than teach.
"These were terribly negative signals that TETFund has helped nip in the bud."
He added that the Fund has over the years helped in training academic staff in the institutions.
“We have done a lot also in the area of academic staff development, by sending out this class of people to different universities within the country and abroad including Ivy League institutions, to better their lot, by acquiring masters and doctorate."
TETFund was formed in 2011 under the TETFund ACT, 2011, charged with the responsibility for managing, disbursing and monitoring the education tax to public tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Free Education In Nigeria Buhari may forget his campaign promise — APC lawmaker

A lawmaker representing Kazaure Federal constituency at the House of Representatives,Mohammed Gudaji, has said President Muhammadu Buhari may forget that he promised to provide free education to Nigerians.

Speaking in Dutse, Gudaji said he felt the need, as a lawmaker and member of theAll Progressives Congress(APC), to remind the President of what he said during his campaign.

According to him Buhari's many engagement may cause him to forget, hence the need for a reminder.

"As you might be aware, things will be too much on our President as such he may likely forget with this vital promise he made of providing free education if voted into power," Gudaji said.

"There is urgent need to alert him so that parents will stop taking their children to private schools and end up paying exorbitant amount as school fees of their wards."

The lawmaker noted that free education would be a relief to parents because the cost of private education is very high

He however urged Nigerians to be patient for the expected change to happen.
It will be recalled that Nigeria's First Lady,Aisha Buhari, said education is the main focus of her husband’s government

Treasury Single Account ASUU questions Buhari's TSA policy, warns of implications

TheAcademic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) has criticized PresidentMuhammadu Buhari's Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy, barely a month after theAcademic Staff Union of Polytechnics(ASUP) expressed similar concerns.

According to ASUU, the TSA could constitute bottlenecks in the smooth running of the Nigerian University System if hurriedly implemented.

President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nasir Isah Faggae (Edu Wheel)
Speaking during the National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting of the union held in Owerri, ASUU National President, ‎Dr.Nasir Isa Fagge, said the Federal Government must deliberate over the policy with university representatives to make is workable.

The TSA, introduced to block financial leakages and prevent mismanagement of government's revenue, unifies all government accounts through a single treasury account, enabling it to prevent revenue loss and mismanagement by revenue-generating agencies.

"There is no way any university can operate freely without having financial autonomy and the union will fight against any plans to deny us such,’’Fagge said.
He explained that the autonomy enables universities to make long and short term plans and taking it away will have consequences.

It will be recalled that, in mid-September, ASUP National President, ComradeChibuzo Asomugha, had advised Buhari to provide a special consideration for educational institutions in the country as regards the TSA.

University of Ilorin UNILORIN's admission process is not discriminatory — VC

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has dismissed insinuations that it discriminates in its admission process in favour of people from Kwara state, adding that it does not discriminate Nigerians from any part of the country.

TheUniversity of Ilorin(UNILORIN) has dismissed insinuations that it discriminates in its admission process in favour of people from Kwara state.
Speaking withDaily Trust, the Vice Chancellor of the University, ProfessorAbdulganiyu Ambali, said the intuition does not discriminate Nigerians from any part of the country.

Ambali said the regulations laid out by theJoint Admissions Matriculations Board(JAMB-) are strictly followed.
"It is an insinuation that we have to really educate ourselves on because the University of Ilorin is a federal government institution that has the rules and regulations governing admission by JAMB and we make sure that at faculty level, those that are going to implement that adhere strictly to the JAMB rules and regulations,"he said.

"There is equal opportunity for everybody irrespective of where they come from.

"In fact, the University of Ilorin is one of the few universities that pride themselves of having representation from all the states of the federation in terms of employment or admission."

Ambali explained that the guidelines are followed strictly in line with Federal character, even where it leaves some qualified candidates out.
"For example, our admission quota for Medicine is just 150 candidates for a whole class and when you share that among the 36 states each state gets probably five or four and when we have 10 people with 230 which is our minimum for medicine, the college will then take the best four among the 10.

"The college may take somebody with 230 from Osun and leave somebody with 236 from Oyo because there are other candidates who scored higher than that from Oyo."

"JAMB says if the quota is not followed accordingly, we will end up training doctors only from one state and before you realize it, the country will not be stable because you have greater manpower from one state of the federation than the others."

UNILORIN is one of the universities that receive very high number of applications.

Recently, Ambali said only 7,800 of the 65,000 candidates that sat for its Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be admitted for the 2015/2016 session.

No UNIZIK 2015/2016 2nd Admission List, Says School Authority

Authorities of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) wish to inform members of the public, especially all UTME candidates who applied for admission into the institution for the 2015/2016 academic and did not see their names in the 1st batch/merit admission list that the institution will not release any general second list.

The Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu who made this assertion, disclosed that the only pending list now is for Pre-science, affiliate institutions and Direct entry candidates.
He stated that there are fraudsters who are currently collecting some money from candidates promising them admission in the second list adding that it is criminal as there is nothing like that.
The PRO advised candidates to be properly guided as money lost as a result of payment to anyone, is such a person’s liability.
He urged candidates to report any staff of the University who extorts money from them for admission purposes atinfo@ unizik.edu.ng ordir_ipr@ unizik.edu.ng.

UNILORIN At 40 University of Ilorin “needs more money” — VC

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, has said the institution is in need of funds to execute important projects as it celebrates its 40th anniversary this month.

"The university needs more money," Ambali said.
Vice Chancellor of UNILORIN, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali (UNILORIN)
"I think that is the usual thing because we
have, in our plans, a few projects that we need to execute.

"For instance, we want a self-sell laboratory which costs some money because self-sell research is the state of the art research that needs a separate infrastructure, as well as the equipment to drive it."

He noted that the institution plans to be more financially stable and relevant to society in the coming years.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AmbdulGaniyu Ambali
